Maybe we need some clarification:

You say "Eldico"; what model rig?
You say:  "homebrew high voltage power transformer marked ET-18"
Are you really saying "homebrew power supply using a power transformer marked ET-18"?
Is the "ET-18" marking stamped or embossed on the transformer?

Thanks Pete. Sorry, I was in a hurry when I wrote that. Its a homebrew power supply, not made by me. Probably made by K1SJ ex WA1OKO Stan. The ET-18 marking appears to be silkscreened onto one of the shield/housings. I wonder if it came from an Eldico SSB1000 amp? I dont know if Eldico sold a line of transformers.

Here's the heavy iron in the SSB-1000:

Why do you think it's Eldico?

Thanks for the pic. I guess the transformer is not from that one. And good question, here is the answer:

Is the current ET-18 bad? Have any idea what the homebrew supply was/is putting out? The transformer doesn't look that robust for high current stuff.

Yeah, I will have to run some tests with a variable load and see what happens. Right now I don't know what is good or bad in the supply. I will check out the components somewhat first, then Variac it up slowly.

After doing that, you might be able back track it to one of the Eldico models that has similar specs or maybe be happy that ET-18 still works and do a happy dance.

More pictures would be good.  How thick are the laminations?  Here's a pic of my Eldico TR-1 PS.  The HV transformer is the big one near the front panel with two leads coming out of the top (going to the 866's)  I would say it weighs at least 10 lbs.

More pics?

The transformer in that TR-1 power supply picture looks like it might be the one. I measured the dimensions of mine. The core is 4 3/8 x 5 1/4 x 3 1/8 inches.

Does it have two leads coming out the top for the 866 plate caps?

No, it does not have leads coming out of the top. That is difficult to see in your photo. The leads come out of the bottom of the case. Thanks for the help! The supply has 3kv worth of filter caps in series, as well as a choke. I guess its time to just bring it up on the Variac.
