IN A TRIODE NO ONE CAN HEAR YOUR SCREEN

WWW
« on: May 04, 2015, 06:16:38 PM »

I headed out solo from Hidden Valley on the 20th, made it to Pats' Bunker of Doom in Dallas by the next morning.  Spent the night in a huge warehouse full of delectable vintage electronics.

Spent the next couple days with friends on the road, and met up with family in West Virginia.

From there my cousin Russ & I hightailed it to Baltimore and met with Carol, Frank's (The Slab Bacon) widow.  By previous arrangement I had bought all his iron, and loaded it up, back to WVa.

All 1,200 pounds of it are home now, to add to the Iron Menace's stash.  5,000 mi. more or less.

Many thanks to Pat and Johnny Novice as go-betweens!

Wish I'd known you were here, Dennis. Could've fixed you up with a herd of MV rectifiers. Only about 4.5 hours from here up to Johnny's place, and maybe half hour-45 minutes over to Baltimore. He did mention you would be coming up but I've just been too busy with everything else to follow up.

So they'll sit in the garage a while longer....  Wink

Glad you got Frank's iron, Dennis.  Sure wish I had time to come over there and help or at least meet ya, but it was one of those weekends....

Will do next trip.  This one was a multipurpose run with friends & family calling most of the shots.

Opportunity taken, lots of hours behind the wheel.

El Paso to Dallas in one drive. That is something. Nobody understands how far that is until they do it.

When I lived in Houston,  we would leave after work on our trips to San Diego.

El Past was the 12 hour mark of the  journey,  go to bed,  it's halfway point.

Yes,  your in Texas for half the trip.   And,  the stretch of I10 at night this encompasses is really hard to get through without a ticket....   Really hard!   Especially at night.

Out in far West Texas on I-10 the speed limit has been raised to 80 or so.  That helps shorten the drive some.

Yep.  Left Gilbert, AZ in the rental @ 1000 hrs Monday.  Arrived Pats in Dallas @ 0300 local Tues.

The cruiser home was me & two cousins in a new Dodge 3/4t 4X4 with a bed full of vintage transformers, towing the Ford rental on a trailer.

Not one ticket, witnessed plenty of car carnage on the road tho.

38 hours straight from Ripley, WVa to Hidden Valley, AZ.  ZZZZZZ
