Can anyone describe what component a DX-35 operation switch is.  It looks like a 12 position single deck rotary switch with four used positions.  My manual schematic is somewhat fuzzy and I've been unable to see a clear photo of this.

Looks like it's 4  SPST switches.

            1: Power ON/OFF
`          2: HV   ON/OFF
            3: Power to Buffer
            4: Connect Modulator to PA

It is what it is, I've seen them burnt up before as well but
there pretty easy to repair.  This schematic may be better for you.

I have a decent PDF of the manual I can send you, the chassis illustrations are clear enough to get a good idea of how the switch should appear.

That would be appreciated. Thanks.  I've only been able to find an incomplete manual.

We may have the same manual copy.  I will send it to you and check when I get home to see whether my DX-35 came with a full manual.

Take a look at the April issue of ER Magazine.

I have a relay replacement written into the article which will save the Function Switch.

The problem is I don't have the function switch.  The manual identifies it as part 63-114 operations switch but I've found no description  -- or a parts cross reference -- so I could just go to mouser or whoever and get a replacement. Maybe Heath used custom parts?? Possibly.

Finding an exact replacement other than from a Heathkit parts unit is a problem and the fairly similar DX-40 uses a different switch.

Mouser/Digikey/etc. aren't going to sell a stock switch with the layout (combination of switched and common with proper conductor pattern) that you need.

To me, it looks like a 2-pole, 2 section, 6 contacts per pole shorting switch. Those probably aren't difficult to come by BUT parts of the moveable contact sections would have to be cut and trimmed away since the switch been customized for this particular application.

All those wafer switches are custom, made to order.  You're not going to find the switch off the self at Mouser or any other distributor.  That's why I have hundreds of wafer switches that I've pulled from equipment.  I change wafers from one switch to another to make up what I need, but they have to be the same make and style switch.  I probably have something here that might work, but I would need to have his switch here to try to match up something.
