Hi All,
The Valiant is coming together.  The front panel and knobs are on, the tubes are in.  All seems fine with the power on, until I switch on the HV, no click from the relay.  :-(

One side of the relay is being grounded by the switch, the other has ~160V on it.  I ohm out the coil and it is show hundreds of megaohms.

Bummer.

Does anyone know of a drop in replacement?  I remember installing a 12V relay in my Viking using a voltage double circuit, should I do that here?

Thanks

I"ve never owned a Valiant, but I'm going to go out on a limb and wager that Johnson used the same Potter and Brumfield relay in the Valiant that they used in the Ranger — it's an LM11-10000.  The coil has 10K ohms DC resistance.  About the only source is going to be from a junker.

In the Ranger, it's powered with around 160V off of a divider on the 300v supply.  I think you'd be better off using a 12V relay and a voltage doubler from the filament line.  I was about to do that in my Ranger II when an original (used) relay unexpectedly materialized from an ancient "wanted" post  ..

Used an NTE R06-14D10-110 in mine. It fit perfectly and works fine.

Thank you Grant,
Yes, unless one turns up soon, I think I will do just that.
