I misplaced my Heath alignment tool that fits the IF cans in my Mohawk.  The Heath part # is 490-1 and just about every Heathkit came with one.

I tried to determine the size of the hex hole in the slugs using an Allen wrench carefully and all the slugs do turn.  But you know what happens when you run a metal tool through a ferrite slug, other than cracking it into pieces.  Yes, the tuning is way off, but the slugs do turn.

Does anyone happen to have one or a suitable replacement?  I bought a set of so-called alignment tools from Amazon and none of them fit.  They didn't even fit the top slugs, let alone passing through the top one to get to the bottom one.

Check the Philmore-Datek site to see if you can find what you want?

Dick - What is the size of the Allen wrench that fit the slugs?  I have a few extra alignment tools I picked up at hamfests. Maybe I have the size you need.

I just got the GC set from Techi-Tool.  One tool fits perfectly and I'm glad it did.

The slugs on the first 1682 kc transformer were way out of alignment.  The calibrator signal came up at least 20 db, and after the rest of the slugs were aligned, I could hear signals on all bands a whole lot better than ever before.  The 50 kc transformers were close but not perfect.

Yes, I know I'm supposed to follow the manual, but I was excited to get so much more signal strength out of the Mohawk, I just couldn't resist!

Thanks for the help.
