OK. I'm leading up to the 811A mudulator with the S-22. HOWEVER I'm a chikkin where HV is concerned. I've gotten plenty of jolts.
I have a ready-made and totally proven SS supply. I tried using it on a parallel 5933 RF PA with mixed results. Never could get the tuning right but the results were totally interesting!
It's choke input. I get around 775 VDC, no load and CLEAN! Iron is a UTC and was built for a bridge; 200 ma easy. Bleeder has a screen tap; bias is separate, bridge and variable up to 135 v. It's on the left. One 6.3 V tap goes to a reverse filament transformer (gold thing). Bias supply is far left. There is a second 6.3 winding for the 5933s / 807s. Everything is super-filtered. I will replace the choke with a Thordarson 200 ma swinger up top. It has seen its day. You will notice there are two octals for a pair of VR-90s if I need them. Mic pre-amp?
I've decided to build a practice modulator around an NOS UTC S-20. I'm moving the Kenyon line to grids iron here. Pair of 5933s. Hot dog! Plate modulation for the DX-60 / 20 !!! Practice! Room for the driver on the left. Hot-Hot-Hot Dowg! It's in the book. You'll find the book on the back of your seats.
Best thing is I'll have the speech amp / option and a chassis to build it on. Could always use the S-8 to drive the 5933s. The 7 watt Kenyon will handle the 5933s loafing but struggle with the 811As. It actually was made to match 500 ohm line to class "B" 807s! Substitute 5933's and POOF! Instant 55 watt mudulator. Here's the coolest thing. I was going to use this for a modulator or RF so it's totally adjustable. Now I'm having fun.
