I’m working to restore a Clegg 99’er and find a mystery modification. There is a switch on the front panel connected across pins 1 & 7 of V5, 6AL5. I’ve attached a schematic showing its location. I assume it disables the “automatic noise limiter” but we know what “assume” means. Should I take it out or leave it in? Many thanks for any advice. Mike W5MDB

That probably was the intent. Maybe he had the urge to hear that Hi-Fi AM 6 meter sound without the clipping action of the noise eliminator.

Thank you, Pete, for your reply. My main concern was the safety of the modification. I suppose I should leave it in the circuit to see what it does once I get it powered up. 73 Mike
