I have been wracking my brain trying to remember the call sign and name of an older gentleman I used to listen to on AM...I think he was from Ann Arbor Michigan and used to do an incredible monologue of Amos and Andy (doing all the voices) with a booming signal into NH.. I don't know if he is an SK or if he is still around.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him on a winter night when 75 meters would come booming in...

I know I will recognize his call as soon as I hear it...

Thanks!

You have two people combined but they used to talk with each other.

W8AHB is the guy who was always talking about Tesla.

WA3PUN is the guy who did the Amos and Andy thing. I heard he's found a new respect for African Americans these days.

You can grab their full names and addresses from QRZ and load that into Google for more info.

Ah yes...dead nuts on! Thanks! I'll check them out on QRZ.com. Those two guys would keep me in stitches for hours...and in listening to AHB, I found out about Tesla and have read much on him since then.

Thanks again!

Steve.
"No kids, no lids, no space cadets." Is the way I remember it.  Then maybe went on to add the class A operator criteria.
Great times listening in those days.

I know.  We rehash this stuff over and over, but like a 92 yr. old friend of my mother's once said, " Ricky, when you get to be my age, all you have are memories."

"No school bus riders" was another version. And of course, others copied him over the years which only adds to the confusion of who said what.

He wasn't fond of the use of phonetics, as he makes clear in the clip I've attached. Pretty sure Steve has one on the Window site as well where he refers to "yapper" down the band. Good stuff, definitely more amusement content that what you'll hear on 75m these days.

'PUN and 'AHB were some of the very first AM contacts I made years ago. Need to find that old log book....

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Here's some info on W2 "Old Yellar"

http://forum.near-fest.com/index.php?topic=1025.0

Scroll down a bit and you'll find plenty of mod and links.

Myron hated phonetics.  He was a curmudgeon on the air but apparently not so hard boiled off the air.
