One of my best college jobs was a "board shift" at Miami University's radio station, WMUB.  We had a Collins console like the one pictured in your post (except the cabinet was all one color, close to St. James gray.)  The pots were big, substantial things that reminded me of the dials on bank vaults.  In the upper right corner was a row of push buttons used for selecting remote lines, like basketball games.  They were labeled "NEMO" which inspired all sorts of Jules Verne Sci-Fi images.  Much later I found out that NEMO was an old Telco term for outside lines, those "Not Emanating (from) Main Office."

I like the knobs.  Did you acquire the console?

Wish I had. A friend in Tampa who works in broadcasting shared the photo with me.

I long to restore my GE 4BC21A1 console. Besides being dirty, it has the appearance of something that has been in the sun too long. Nothing's shiny any more, esp. the knobs. Germanium tech. It's on the back burner because it is uncertain what it would be good for.. So many inputs, one microphone.

The Collins console I once used was the single channel version of this:

... but in much better condition (back in 1965 or so.)

The Collins console probably has DAVEN step attenuators. They would last forever if maintenance was done regularly.
I bet that console is still working today

I still could not get that link to work, but this one appears to.

Bob is a member here on AMfone and was of tremendous help when I needed some documentation on a Gates 52CS / Studioette console.

Not sure why you all were having so much trouble with that link.  It works fine here .. I just checked it again in the original post.

I got remote linking forbidden!
Joe's link is ok. You do not see a full screen pic of the Collins.
Remember when eating and smoking around electronics was allowed?

That would've been the 212B. I've got the one here that came out of the station I worked at back in the 80s, as a piece of nostalgia. It was gutted out long before I was there and is basically a Collins box with other stuff inside. Mike/W8BAC has a nice one he restored for his station.

The 212A is a great console, probably more than most need but it gives a lot of flexibility. It's a perfect mate to the 300G transmitter, 26W limiter, and other gear of the late 40s/early 50s vintage. Hoping to get some time to get mine working again and back in line before it turns to dust.

I remember seeing that Todd when we were down to your place.  Nice one indeed and send some audio through it!
