I purchased a restored R-390a that has the Dallas Lankford AGC modification. Does anyone know where the original article for this mod is located? All the links I tried here on amfone are bad & Google search was exhaustive. I would like to read his theory and modification to enlighten myself and to use it properly. I noticed in AGC Slow the audio level doubles at the speaker from Med or Fast and the Carrier meter db level drops about 10 db. When selecting Med the carrier meter db jumps to max and slowly lowers but at 10 db higher level than low.

Even though these came up under my search also I do not see Lankfords ALC mod on these websites. With that said I have been accused by my xyl of being blind at times!  Smiley
Thanks for your reply. It's my understanding the article was in a Hollow State Newsletter.
Anyone have it?

This link contains the article.  Look for HSN#27 in the first part of the PDF.  It's in there.

I have the complete paper set (issues #1 thru #53), if you need something that you can't find on-line.  I think someone recently put the whole thing on-line somewhere, but I'll have to look back through the Collins list archive to find it.

  It's been my experience that's  normal for a R-390A.

Here is a better link, to the three files containing Hollow State Radio.  Many other interesting things on this website.
