Does anyone have a schematic for a good am modulation meter?
I have Googled and search this site to no avail.

Gary,

Radio and TV News had several construction articles for  them over the years.  Go here and search for "modulation meter" (use the quotes around modulation meter):  http://www.americanradiohistory.com/hd2/Archive-Radio-News-IDX/search.cgi

Hi Gary,

If you ever decide to purchase one, I would highly recommend the REA mod monitor.

I believe there have been a couple written up in Electric Radio.  I don't know which issues off the top of my head, but you can check the online index.

Hi Gary -- If you are interested in building your own modulation monitor, Bob Dennison (W2HBE) wrote two articles for Electric Radio as mentioned by K9DXL. They include theory of operation and construction of a practical instrument. The first was in No. 10 with a follow-up in No. 12.

Thanks Guys for all the information.

I'm trying to put together something for my ART 13 and TCS 14. It will be circa 1940s, eg. Wrinkle finish black chassis.

I use an old Gates/Harris modulation meter.   I use its demod out, through the station audio amp for the headphones.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I went with this schematic (Top pic) with a few mods.
Then CNC engraved a PCB (center pic) and put it in a box (bottom pic). Checked it with a spectrum analyzer. It's fairly flat to 205 MHz where it goes to 1.1:1

This is a very low cost PC+DVBT dongle solution. Not simple.
