I'm still trying to figure out how you could use a Clegg Zeus modulation transformer and plate transformer for direct use with a Johnson 500 at 500w DC input and 100% modulation at least. Logically and electrically this would not work out well.

The plate transformer is good for about 900v DC choke input...and the modulation transformer OK for about 120w or so. Someone got real creative I suppose?

Thanks! My tube shield showed up today and I installed an "idle/on" light on the left empty red cut glass. So I put it back together!
Sure is pretty!

Very nice!

I also installed a lamp in this position on my 500.
My Valiant has a green jewel on the left and I had to install a lamp fixture in it too.
My Ranger does not have a lamp here.....guess I will have to get busy.
I never have understood why these transmitters did not have lamps installed at the factory or provided for in the kits.
I wish they all had green jewels on the left....dunno how my Valiant got a green one....

If you find a source for those panel jewel fixtures, I'd like to know it. My Valiant has a red one for power on, but I had one years ago that had a green one. Sure would like to have a green one again. Green means "yep, power's on, all is good." Red means "things are happening" as in the transmitter is transmitting. BTW, I stuffed a 6.3 v.a.c. grain of wheat bulb in the power-on  jewel tube on my Valiant, bright as all get out, little heat, works great.
