After about 3 1/2 years of buying, selling, moving things, lacing wire looms, building and planning I think I am pretty happy with this being a relatively permanent form of my main radio room rack. The only thing missing is the rack mounted ART-13 power supply which I am currently rebuilding. I will post a few more photos later of the other racks. The neat thing is that I have a P-P 6V6 amplifier on one of the other racks and I can patch it into any of the radios. No more multiples of speakers hanging around!

Very nice. If all that gear is hooked up you have done well. Without knowing its a working station it looks a lot like my storage area downstairs!
Nice Job! Now make some QSO's with it.

Save for the ART-13 which awaits the rebuilding of the power supply everything is hooked up and operational. A lot of time was spent making neat wiring looms so as to not have a nest in back.

Beautiful layout & especially the invisible wiring job. Always wanted to do that to my station but haven't had the ambition. It is an intimidating task..OH NO!! YOU BLOCKED THE DOOR; HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET TO THE KITCHEN FOR A BEER.......................... OR TO THE BATHROOM AFTER DRINKING THE BEER.

That's an RCA RBC-1. It's a WWII Navy HF receiver that was contracted to RCA (who then scoured the nation and borrowed engineers from other companies to help them develop it). It's actually in the rack. It's just that it's so tall that I needed to set the rack shelf down far enough for it to fit. I also needed to have a bit of room above it when it came to lifting it out as it weighs 82lbs. I plan on aligning it very shortly and so I will take some photos of it up close as well as some photos of the inside and post them here.

That RBC is a nice receiver...The Gov't paid RCA plenty for those...They were built for the Navy and used on Battleships...They had to be tough...I have one in use here on 15 and 20 meter AM

"HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET TO THE KITCHEN FOR A BEER......"
1.) You don't need to go to the kitchen; buy one of them small refrigerators, and keep it near. 2.) You only need a jug.

Very neat! And a nice mix of boatanchors and more modern gear.
Burt - The bed idea is good for contesting. Actually you can put your QSL cards on the ceiling and drift off to sleep thinking of tropical DX...

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed. Easily done in DSP.

It is very clean and neat. I'm afraid mine's not so neat, although a little 409 and a broom takes care of any messes. It must take a great deal of time to lace wiring.

Before I was married, I had radios next to my bed. Or should I say I had a bed in the shack. Once the 'mine' became 'ours', the radios went out of the bed room.
I'm still looking for a nice office chair that I can use to power nap.

When you've been married way too long you get to put the radios back in the bed. Fred

A friend who has been happily married for a looong time, and whose XYL is very nice and has her own hobbies, he has a SW receiver next to their bed, on his side of course. It's just a matter of being considerate using it I suppose, so when the other party is reading or sleeping she isn't disturbed.
