Right now I am deeply saddened by this news and am somewhat at a loss for words.  Our good friend and mentor, Don VE2SH/VE3RM, passed away in Hawkesbury Ontario on February 12th 2014.

There are THOUSANDS of hams who have their licenses today thanks to Don Dashney.  My XYL, Cynthia, VE2KW and I are two of them.  Yes, there are THOUSANDS.

It was my greatest privilege in 2011 to have Don brought to NEAR-Fest and surprise him with the Lifetime Pass award in recognition and thanks for his efforts.

Don was in his eighties and in poor health.  His loss is profound to all who knew him.

Will write more later.

RIP Don.

Unfortunately I never knew Don, but his tremendous attributes will be remembered by many.  Our deepest sympathies to all his friends and family.
