It was quite a thrill to work Johan, ON7HJA (Belgium) on 21.440 Mhz on AM this morning. 15-meters was smoking hot! The old Collins 32V3 was a champion and Johan was booming in on the Extended-Double-Zepp. This QSO was particularly poignant as my wife and I are traveling from Paris to Brussels, and up to Amsterdam in July and it looks like a detour will afford us a visit with Johan and his wife.

Just when I was becoming somewhat disenchanted with amateur radio ... magic happens!

Nice one Dan! The detour will definitely add some fun to your travels! This coming July I'll be stuck in Connecticut swatting mosquitoes and mowing my lawn...

:O)

That is a nice long haul. And I'm sure it was not just an exchange of signal reports!

Rob and Dave,

Thanks for the nice comments. I just now worked Aldo, IW5ERK in Italy. His 60 watts and dipole doing amazingly well.

I'm not a DX'er so these contacts are a real hoot!
