A few more pictures from NEAR-Fest.

1) Things just getting started
2) Joe, PJP and Todd eating a good breakfast.  Not shown in the photo are Joe - GMS and Martha - QBE
3) W3GMS having a piece of pie that Todd's mother made.  That pie is so good that it seldom is seen for more that a few seconds and then they take it somewhere!!

Joe, GMS

1) Todd - KAQ along with his father and brother who delivered the PIE!
2) Warren - W1GUD whom I met for the first time.  We used to talk after school on 75M AM back in the mid to late 60's.  Also in the photo is my wife Martha - N3QBE
3) Rob - W1AEX who is the guru on many subjects and a great guy that I have known for years.

1) Dale - KW1I and his restored Military Jeep.  Dale in my mind, is the military radio king!  I have known Dale for many years and use to enjoy his AM forums that he did for many years at the Dayton Hamvention.
2) Dale's Jeep with T-195 and R-392 lash-up beautiful installation.
3) The famous Kaboom Jeep in case the enforcer needed it!

So now you might say, "where is MrMike"?  Well he moves around so fast I could not get a picture of him but without his efforts and great team this all would have not been possible.

A big thank you to all involved in making this a fantastic event!

A few shots from my camera as well. Here's a few from the trip there:

1 - my favorite car at the Manorville Auto Museum, a 1962 Impala SS w/30K original miles

2 - a fairly new arrival at the Manorville Radio Museum (next door to the Auto Museum, literally)

3 - the Long Island Ferry looking like a great white shark eating cars

And more....

4 - swells of 4-5 feet waiting for us on LI Sound (the things we go through to attend a hamfest)

5 - another AM Dinner photo showing Howie W1CL better and almost showing W3GMS

6 - W3GMS tries to escape from the aquarium to the outside world when he sees AMers outside in the parking lot

Still need to take a shot of my vast collection of treasures purchased at the 'fest.

And yes Dave, we missed having the opportunity to discuss the problems of constructing the complex and massive 40m half wave dipole. Of course, now that the higher bands are open more, it's a moot point....temporarily.... Wink

I was back visiting my sisters, I've been making my yearly trip in the Fall, last two years I went to the Yankee Steam Up at the New England Museum of Wireless and Steam. This year it was to late for that but I read about NEAR Fest.

Drove up from Norwell, Ma with my best friend from high school on Friday, what a glorious New England Fall day!! I could only stay until noon and had to get back, my sisters had a dinner I needed to attend.

They do things a bit different than on the West Coast, our swaps here in the Bay Area start early, before sun up! There are guys out there with flash lights in the dark.
