estate sale Thursday, ebay today.
Pair Federal AM 864/U Tube Amplifier (Limiter/Compressor/Preamplifier)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/141021294693

The highest price ever paid for one of those limiters was about $800, back when the tube craze, 10 years ago.. Usually they have gone for $200-250 so the price is already retail.

Just saying from experience they are fine for riding voice signal gain about 3dB, maybe 6dB at the edge of losing control for ham voice stuff and real slow on attacking peaks of 10dB above program, and lets the first one through before reducing the gain -so got to be careful, and not remotely hi-fi in the frequency area. Yet the 'phools will pay the big money because they don't know better and the limiters look great. I used to have one, was good for use as stated. I used it to limit the signal after a compressor. It is a limiter, not a compressor. It waits for a peak that's too high and makes the gain dive. Sold it on ebay.. because of the poor compressing performance when trying to combine several programs @ different levels onto one tape.
