I have a possible Valiant 1 lined up for a reasonable price. I think I am seriously losing ground at my efforts to reduce the project work load here. I'm about 1/2 done with the R388. The Valiant still has the 866 rectifiers in it, so I will put their replacement at the top of my list.

The cosmetics are so so. We can work on that later.

Am I nuts or what?

Probably,  like most of us here,  but we'll have to wait and see just how nuts.

EVERYTIME I clean up the bench, another project comes calling. A clean room screams,"trash me !."

There has to be a principle working here...  "Wilson's Conundrum" or something.  Grin

errr....probably a no go. The radio is fairly rough, works, but needs a lot of work....probably more than I am comfortable doing. This would be my first old transmitter.

Most probably will be (a little rough) from years of use, storage, and/or hamfest tailgate trips. Got any pictures of the prospect, Uno "L"?

Phil... the other one Cool Cool Cool

I drove up to Barre VT a few months ago to pick up a $100 Valiant from a 20 something non ham. It looked like it sat untouched for decades as it was covered in a fine dust inside and out but otherwise looked almost new with all original tubes. No scratches or extra holes. Other than 3B28's and a good going thru of caps switch cleaning, etc, it will likey be left unhacked unless the audio looks bad on the scope and analyzer.

That now gives me an Adventurer, V-I, V-II CDC, Ranger, Valiant, Challenger, and 6n2 with only the first 3 in use. Thats enough Johnsons for me.
