First time I saw this episode of Father Knows Best I was about 10 years old and it had a impact on me concerning Radio. But of course I didn't realized some of the special effects of Hollywood. Sorry about a few commercials.

How impatient those sailors were.  Nowadays you have to wait your turn to declare an SOS on the MM Net, until after all the Nebraska and Iowa station check ins!  Smiley

Wonderful example of those 50's shows.  If our families weren't quite up to the standards of the Andersons, we probably wished that they were.  Maybe romanticized just a little, but certainly the kind of thing that inspired us as kids to get involved with radio and electronics.

That looked like a Zenith Transoceanic or similar receiver.
