It's that time of the year again; the day after Thanksgiving.  For me, the traditional begining of the holiday season.

Can Festivus be far away?

I am afraid to open that link! If it's the one that was played on the air a few years back about 5000 times, I don't want to hear it Cry Cry Cry Please transcribe it for me here Grin Grin Grin I need to be safe! BTW, they are playing that Xmas music around Albany, NY now. I guess that is no surprise?

The local oldies station has started with the Christmas music and it will continue until January 1, 2013.

Bah Humbug.  Hyper commercialized, overly dramatized,  formerly for Family holiday.

And now under attack by various Atheist groups.  (ironic, but by definition, Atheism is a religion!).

Sadly I can't pry those around me out of that mode for the holiday.

I enjoy Easter, Thanksgiving and the 4th of July much more thank you...

I do keep the memory of the Christmas that Was carefully preserved however, hoping for it's rebirth.

Ed,

I ignore the degraded and perverse parts of the holiday, or, if those parts are critical to the 'spirit of the holiday' (as defined in past), I ignore only the degraded state.

It is not easy to do and results in some annoyances but I've gotten good at it.

As far as militant atheists, some day it will be proven in court that they do believe in something they can't see, and at that point they can bug off. I have nothing against 'em but they need to stop being an annoyance.
