Took the XYL out to lunch today and we went to a place that had a zillion antique style light bulbs illuminating the dining area. I thought they were pretty neat so I took one out to look at the manufacturer.  Looked them up on the net and  my eyes fell out of my head on the cost. So I searched some more and found some that were 1/3 the cost but still more than your average incandescent but somewhat reasonable considering they are a specialty bulb.

The link: http://1000bulbs.com/product/67461/PLT-S2419.html

I ordered 2 of the 60w Victorian or A style.  One will be used next to the restored 1938 Philco Cathedral BCB radio.  Can't figure out why one of less wattage is more expensive.

Those are quite nice looking. Please post back after you have received them, maybe a picture would be nice.

That place also sells a nice candelabra neon indicator lamp for 58 cents.

By accident (looking for the 7V lamp for the M818 truck ignition preheat indicator) I found this place and they advertise a few regular and some "higher powered" neon screw-in or bayonet lamps.

There is this 3.6W neon:

In looking for a more detailed spec, I found out that the so called 3.6W neon lamp is a small 1/4W neon lamp intended to replace a 3.6W incandescent and has an 18K resistor.- so it is a bit disappointing.

Lots of lamps are made by Eiko, incl. the rough service ones certain folks like. No antique ones like that though. I also really looked for a lower cost on those.

A cluster of them mounted in ceramic sockets on a nice stained and varnished piece of cherry or mahogany would be a great looking dummy load for testing really old transmitters.
