neat way to pack octal GT and smaller tubes

I received a 6N7 packed in an unusual way. It was slipped into a short piece of that foam rubber a/c refrigerant line covering, the type meant to insulate and prevent condensation. I don't know what it costs compared to bubble wrap but if there are scraps of it available free from the local a/c repairman, there's a savings. "Armafelex" is a brand name of it.

I'll have to remember that one, my dad does HVAC work and probably has a bunch of that stuff laying out it his storage trailer. What would make it even more indestructible would be to get a piece of the insuation tubing and stuff the tube in it, then take a piece of PVC pipe and put the insulation with the tube in it in the pipe, then box it.

I worked for a HVAC supply distributor years ago, and remember thinking that Armaflex [which was the brand we sold] would make an interesting shipping material for cylindrical items.

Makes  great vibration insulation slipped over the gearshift levers on the old dumptruck..(5 and a 4)
