The SX28A ended up working fine on 20 john.  It wont work above 20 meters.  So no 15 and no 10.  I ended up spending a few hours with the king on 20 today. Lots of fun.

Same drill tomorrow.

We just tested the SX28a.  The top band is dead.  No RX.  However, we did notice that you can get 15 meters Twice.  On band 1 and on band 2, the next band down.  I turned to that next band, Had the icom throw a carrier on 21.430 and then tuned the SX 28 a around.   Found the signal using the band spread.  So I think I am in biz with out moving 250lbs of recievers around the shack!

So band 1 dead.  Band 2 is off on the dial reading.  One of these days I will complete the repairs. But for now, I am tired from all this antenna work.

This afternoon we lowered the tower all the way back down the ground and changed the mounting for the Open wire line antenna. I moved the fiberglass pole horizontal so the Open wire line is now 2 feet away from the tower.  I lost some altitude but now there is no chance of the line shorting to the tower.

The beam is back up now at 55 ft.  The 80 meter open wire line antenna is about 50 ft.  I guess I can live with that.

I will load the GK500 and SX28a up on 21.430 tomorrow morning and sit there for contacts. If I am around, I will try 14.286 also.  For now, i am tired of all this work and just want to relax for a while and enjoy the radio and time off.

Worked N8RWS in ME on 20 meter phone with the king and beam this morning. Great QSO and big signal.

Now on 15 meters AM with the King500 and SX28A.  The SX28A is just not up to the task on these high bands.  Very weak poor performance.

The current group is w6pss, Timtron and Carl.  Lots of other breakers.

I have an RME preselector/preamp that just might be the ticket to spice up the SX28A on these bands.  Otherwise, I need to get off my A$$ and move these recievers around.

Update. The beam is alot of fun.  Today I worked AM on 15, 17 and 20 meters with Timtron, and vmc.  We had a nice group going today.

Tonight I got the NC183D working up on 15 meters. It was deaf.  The reciver went from S2 to 40 DB over after the RF alignment. I think it should be ok now. I went ahead and aligned checked the bands on it to make sure it was spot on.
