Coming soon:

  • Increased power from 50 to 100 watts
  • One new frequency added and one lost
  • CW and Data modes added

The change will happen 30 days after it is published in the Federal Rregister.

More details here:  http://www.arrl.org/news/fcc-releases-new-rules-for-60-meters

Oh yeah, if you are compelled whine about how this is not a "real band" or how the FCC should magically grant us a wide swath of this shared spectrum you may find it easier just to post the links to similar P&M'ing that has been posted elsewhere.   Cheesy

Both CW and SSB are forms of AM.   Wink

Fortunately, my Viking One covers that whole band perfectly, so it doesn't matter what they do with the middle channel!

That only leaves 7 or 8 HF bands where you can use A3E. The glass is way more than half full. Drink up!

WHEN THEY TAKE AWAY RADIOS FROM HONEST PEOPLE, ONLY CRIMINALS WILL HAVE RADIOS.

I wonder how CW RTTY and other digital stuff along with voice, will coexist on the five channels?

Probably a lot like they do on 160.

My VI and II plus both HT-9's will work on 60M as is and I can use the HP-8640B for a stable VFO and just claim poor SB suppression as long as nobody notices 2 sidebands Roll Eyes

Arent there a couple of rice boxes that do AM with only one SB? As long as the bandwidth is in spec it should be legal.

All the rule change means is that all those running their 100W rigs at 100W will become legal and the ones using higher power rigs or amps will be less illegal Shocked

My only concern is that all channels could become filled with Winlink and other digitrash.
