What a nice homebrew 10M monobander linear. The YC-156 is one of the best tubes available for linear service. There are pulls available from MRI machines for about $300, but they are getting rare since modern MRI's now use solid state circuitry.
The YC-156 is not easy to get working above 20M because it has a high plate to cathode capacitance. Many times little to no plate tuning capacitance is needed using a simple pi-net. It appears that K1WHS used a Pi-L to solve the problem. I understand some use an L coming off the tube before the pi-net as an alternative.
I didn't see a schematic, but the pictures make the final area pretty clear to understand.
I've worked K1WHS, the builder, on 6M and have met him personally at the ham fests. He is always working on some FB project, especially antennas for 6M.
Just imagine a rare occasion driving this amp with a hi-fi exciter on 10M AM - feeding a Yagi beaming Europe...
This is how an amp should be built - lots of room, strapping parts, short connections - beautiful!

** Anyone have experience with this tube on 10M ... or even 11M? How did you deal with the high tube plate capacitance / tank output tuning as mentioned above?
