This is my last restoration project

It was 70% cosmetic restoration and 30% electric:

I repainted the chassis, washed all the radio , lubed cleaned.

I have replaced 4 condensers, 2 tubes and aligned the radio.

It works great and now look almost new.

Very nice!  That was my first transmitter and is near and dear to my heart.  Thanks for sharing!

Agree, very nice.

Mine came with 24LQ6's hacked in so that had to be fixed along with a lot of dirt, cabinet burn marks, Mickey Mouse mods, etc. It now is used with a SX-115 and NCL-2000 amp.

Nice looking HT-32B.    I owned one in 1966 and made a lot of AM contacts with it. Even thought of getting another one or maybe an HT-37.

There are some easy mods to make it sound truly hi-fi on AM.  Just bypass the ssb filter and inject hi-fi audio into the balanced modulator directly. Set the carrier and that's it.

Good luck.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

I don't' know it can be a good am trasmitter , as it uses dsb... are those mods documented somewhere with some schemes?

I have to say i bought the HT32B to match SX-115 receiver , i also have an SX-101 matched with a HT32 (first series)...

Chris, W2JBL and  Jeff, W2NBC have done AM mods to their HT-37's. Here's a link that may well apply to the HT-32B with some changes. At least the basic mod principles may be the same.

http://www.amwindow.org/tech/htm/ht37mods.htm

Both their rigs sound very Hi-Fi on AM.

It will give you somethong to start with.  Do a search here for HT-32 mods too. I noticed a few threads here too.

You'll need to bypass the crystal filter.  Make sure you switch BOTH ends out.  Feed line level audio right to the balanced modulator and disable the ALC.  Instant (almost) HIFI AM.
