Hi,

I think most of you know I'm in Farm Country and in this land there is a very big
problem with Flies so here for younns that have the same issue is a Key Desposible
answer to the Problem It's a self contained unit and is Non-Toxic you can buy these
at Lowes individually they're a coupla bux a piece..You fill them with Tap water and
then Hang them in tree or in the barn and they start werking in about a day or so
and in a coupla weeks you will notice a big loss in flying insects.. Smiley

  Terry,

Yeah, I was going to mention the lack of periods (.) in my last post to Jack
but forgot (old grey matter, don'tchano).

The trees look like Pin Oaks.  Got several here on my little chunk of DE. Cheesy

Hi Jim,

The Traps werk on the principle of Smell there is a little packet in the bag
that melts as you pour in the water, then you tie it up in a tree or barn
timbers and allow it to simmer the Flys go after the smell like crazy. Smiley

You beat me to the punch line on that one!  Was going to say..."And after bag is full, makes a delicious fly soup"!

I remember as a kid that we had Japanese beetle traps hanging in the trees around the yard.  I don't remember the reasoning, but the catch jar was filled with gasoline...maybe the beetles were attracted to the smell of the oleen, then passed out from the fumes and drowned.  "And after jar is full, makes a wonderful firebomb!"

It was amazing hows many of those buggers the traps would catch.

You could make Shoe Fly pie or as some spell it, Shoo Fly pie. I'll bet most on here never heard of it? I was raised in NE PA and we all loved it there but it didn't have fly's in it Grin Grin Grin

My grandmother and mother both made Shoo Fly pie here in Texas. It was Shoo Fly rather than Shoe Fly. The name was due to the pie being made from molasses. It would attract flies so you always had to shoo flies! Mother and grandma are long gone now. I sure miss that Texas country cooking.

Your are correct but some on the web call it Shoe Fly?? Looks very simple to make and we just happen to have a frozen crust in the refrigerator. I guess home made crust would be better but I am not a baker Grin Grin From what I have read, people back in the 1700's baked it outdoors in large stone ovens and they told the story of having to shoo the fly's away. Fly's do not change their ways Angry Angry Angry

Yeah.

My High Screwl friend, Mike, kept it in a 1 gal glass jug. If you watched it a bit, you could see it move. Kinda like a lava lamp on Quaaludes.

Yes, it did stink.
