The QCWA National Convention will be held on Sept 8 thru 12, at Warwick, RI.

Of special interest, son Rick, W8KHK, will be making a 2-hour Powerpoint presentation. His subject is the early space age, specifically telling of the projects in which I performed as the developer or lead engineer. The Powerpoint presentation will show many photos of the projects as well as of pertinent parts of the various projects. Rick will also show some of the original artifacts I used in performing the developments. The time of his presentation is scheduled for 1 to 3 pm on Friday the 9th.

Rick is an excellent speaker, and I'm sure that those of you who attend the Convention will enjoy his presentation. I would be there with him if I weren't constrained to dialysis treatments three days per week.

I also know that Rick will be anxious to meet as many of the AMfone Forum people who can attend the Convention. Surprise him!

I'm attaching a copy of the Convention Program.

Walt

What's the venue Walt?  Do you have to be a member to attend?

Hi,

I'm glad to see a class on Amateur Radio and bringing it to Schools...
I'm not interested in the rest of it.

The venue, Chris, is the Quarter Century Wireless Assn, which requires that one be licensed for twenty five years to become a member. However, one does not need to be a member to attend the Convention--everyone's welcome.

It'd be nice to know how many AMers belong to the QCWA--I have no idea. Sons Rick, W8KHK, and Bill, W2WM, and I are all Life Members.

Thanks Walt.  Where in RI is the QCWA hosting the convention?  I'm guessing the hotel and convention center south of TF Green airport- used to be a Holiday Inn, but I think its called something else now.  Most of the air crews laying over at Green stay there.

I have never joined QCWA myself, but being on the air since 1967, certainly qualify.  I suspect most everybody on amfone.net would qualify as well!

Chris, I just now looked at the Program, expecting to find the name of the hotel, or whatever place where it'll occur, but there's no mention of the location--someone goofed! I'll try to find out the venue and get back with you. The town is Warwick.
