I picked up a 350 this weekend but the finals are bad. I think there was an article in ER concerning modifying the rig for other finals. Anyone know what issue that was in?

If you have info on mods for the rig I would like to get a copy of your mods. I have a pair of 5894's, which I understand can be used but not sure how to do the mod.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob,

The article is in ER Sept. '97 starting on page 10.

I have a 300A that was modified for 5894 tubes by the author (Jim Jorgenson K9RJ, now SK) and it works very well.

Thanks Rodger, I just checked and that issue isn't available. I wonder if I could get permission from ER to get a copy of the article from someone, guess I'll ask?

Yes, but when you add it to your cart, you get a message that the issue is no longer available.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

It's worth an email to Ray to see if he can get a copy to you. Many of the back issues they sell are lithographic copies of the originals and can be reproduced. Good luck Bob.

I am running a pair of Phillips 6083 tubes in mine. Plugged them in and tuned it up. Full output  , no modifications.

I got a reply from Ray at ER and he said the 9/97 WAS available and that it had been removed by mistake. I should have it in a few days.

Thanks for the info on the 6083. I haven't had a chance to get this thing up on the bench and before I put to much effort into getting tubes etc, I need to see what it looks like inside. I'll take a couple of pics when I get it out of the case. At 70 years old, lifting a 100lb rig is no small feat.

Bob,
I sent Ray an e mail last night.  Glad the issue is available.
