Well, it seems that somehow I am getting into the computer... specifically, when I am transmitting the mouse appears to develop a mind of it's own.  I am not sure why this has started 'all of a sudden' but it is getting annoying since when I'm on the radio, someone else is usually on the computer...  and she's not happy with the dancing pointer!

Any suggestions? is it possible to put a choke on the mouse cable???  there's been no change inthe station setup or anything, so I'm thinking the problems in the PC.

A choke on the mouse might help. Suggest you ground the case of the computer too.

Are FETs supposed to glow like that?

My puter sits 2 feet from me transmitter.

For a while, the mouse would go dead ( optical/usb )

Grounded the case of the puter... problem solved.

Ya ground the case and choke off the mouse cable..

A wireless mouse might bother your cordless phone or wireless rooter (router)

I vote for putting one of those clamp on chokes first as it is such an easy effort

All mice are not created equal. Why not swap in another mouse or a different type of mouse to see if the issue is still there ?

Also the problem could be originating elsewhere. i.e. the ingress is occuring at some other point and it manifests itself as mouse movement after it gets into one of the peripheral support chips on the motherboard.  As a test you could try disconnecting other cabling temporarily such as USB cables, speaker, printer, etc cabling.  Try plugging the PC into another outlet, etc.

Yes... TRY the ferrites..

However..... it may not be the mouse / cable that is picking up the RF in the first place.

Just because the EFFECT is to make the cursor jump around, doesn't mean the mouse cable is at fault.

Of course, the usb cables on the mice are not the best shielded wires in da world.

The mouse cable was an RF egress point on my Dell laptop.  Operating with the mouse plugged in caused my home security system to display error codes for the remote sensors.

I needed the motivation to switch to the touch pad anyway.

A bunch of FT240-77's and aluminum foil and Im 100% RFI proof from all the crap in the house; it makes the bands enjoyable again.

None of the amps bothers anything either.

Is it fixed yet? If so, what was the answer?

I would try a wireless mouse.

Careful
I had a wireless mouse once. Most of them operate at 11 Meter and the plastic housing of the mouse receiver
provides no HF shielding what so ever. A real pain in the neck of you have a tiny
bit of RF floating around the mouse area. Mine would just lock up, refusing to move the all mighty pointer.

These days, most, if not all RF based wireless mice operate at 2.4 GHz.

Yep. Microshaft wireless mice specifically. I had one that would act up so for the hell of it, and lack of any data, I made a loop of wire on my bench (10" dia random lenght) and plugged it into my HP freq counter and set it for a slow (200ms) gate. Wiggle the mouse inside the loop and whadyaknow, 27.195mhz. 10kc up from the truckers channel 19. Ordered a Logitech revolution and tossed the MS mouse. No more probs and the logitech is sweet.

Yeah Terry, there are Chicken Band keyboards as well that do
the same thing...   I had a set, mouse & keyboard, hooked it up
and attempted to use it for at least 10 minutes before trashing

Here are some model numbers and frequencies used by Logitech's "good buddy" band mice and keyboards.
