Not everyone has the opportunity to be photographed with Fred Lloyd, AA7BQ, the owner of QRZ.com!!

He gave an interesting and outstanding presentation on the history of QRZ at the Orlando Hamcation Saturday, Feb 12. I was in his audience, and had the opportunity to speak with him afterward. The nice guy that he is, he sat down with me for a photo.

I thought I was smiling, but the photo proves otherwise--guess I was pretty pooped out after making all the rounds for seven hours sitting on the scooter. The photo is attached. I don't normally look this beat up.

You look great Walt!  I think most of us are pooped after 7 hours at a hamvention.  Thanks for sharing your photo.

   Walt,

I can detect a barely discernible smile trying to break through the fatigue.

Nice ride there, what model is it and is it transportable?

Did you notice that Fred was wearing a "Maui Wowie" Hawaiian Shirt?

Yes, Mike(y), some hair styles take longer than others to be considered stylish. Mine's taken 92 years!

And Ralph, my scooter is a 'Featherlite'. It can be found on Google. I forgot to look it up before composing this response, but I'll do it shortly to give you the model.

The Featherlite is unique in construction. The battery is a 4"x4"x12" mounted vertically on the steering column just below the handle bars. It's position there doesn't give a clue that it's the battery. So when people see the scooter as I stroll by they ask,  "Where's the battery?"

So I tell them no battery is required--the scooter is powered by methane gas absorbed in the seat cushion. That leaves them scratching their heads. Wouldn't you?

And yes, Ralph, it's easily transportable. Comes apart in three units--the battery, the steering column that contains the front wheel drive, and the rear section containing the seat. No tools required--the rear section connects to the steering column through a ball joint and the battery just hooks onto the steering column. Dissassembly and reassembly takes around 15 seconds each.

Ralph, I went to Google to direct you to a picture of my scooter, but my model is no longer available, so no pic--sorry.
