Every time Curiosity roves, it leaves Morse code tracks in the soil, providing a visual signal between drives. The message spells out JPL, short for Jet Propulsion Lab, which built the rover.

Something I did not know?

My grandfather on my mothers side was very scientifically minded and he is the one who sparked my interest in space exploration. Now there is so much stuff out there with new discoveries happening almost daily, it's hard to keep up with it all!

Fantastic achievement.

There must be a ham with a bit of whimsy involved with the JPL project, or an astute PR exec; what normal scientist would think of CW on Mars?
