a little depends on what you are replacing, Terry.
MCM also has a decent selection.
IF it is an enclosed box, you can always get a good result with a spec that
is Qts <0.4 and >0.3 - the LF limit depends on the volume vs. VAS figure, and the Fs (free air resonance) of the driver. These values are "magic" values that will work with either a sealed box or a ported box and yield reasonable sounding results.
IF it is an open box, a higher Qt driver is called for... between 0.7 and 0.5 is pretty good. Some car drivers might fly there, they tend to have high Q figures...
To optimize it is best to download a freeware "bass response" or other T/S type box simulator. This will permit you to dork the box parameter (pick the box size and port - if a port is present) and see what T/S driver parameters will work.
Frequently you will find that the box you have with that 15" driver is actually better suited to a 12" or 10" driver, because of the lower VAS (equivalent volume displaced) of the smaller driver matches the limited volume of the box. You can get lower bass out of a given box in cases like this.
People don't generally know it, but most commercial speakers don't even reach 40Hz. flat. 40Hz. sounds pretty darn low to the ear...

I would agree with Dave's recommendation. The folks at Parts Express are easy to work with and they carry many different vendors offering a wide range of component quality.

I have an acount with RAMKO ramkodist.com - most of it for 15" is 4 Ohms some dual coil and some 2 Ohms.. you can view the catalog online, no prices though as it is wholesale.

I bought a pair of 12 inch Dayton Audio woofers from Parts Express last year for my stereo system. The cone on one of my woofers was deteriorating badly so I decided to replace both of them. There were about 37 years old. The speakers received seem to be very well made, fit right into the enclosure, all the mounting holes lined up, and sounds great. Tried to match the specs of the original speaker as best I could with sparse information I had and was not disappointed in the sound with the new speakers installed. Didn't have to spend a ton of money for them either.

ZRF has a friend (Mueller) who replaced the foam surrounds in the JBL L100 pair that I got from Dennis, WA3YXN.
Lots cheaper and retains the tone quality / power characteristics JBL designed.

Paul, one speaker is destroyed by me because I didn't know you could replace to outer component. The other escaped my wrath. I'll have to look at the suggestions. It would be nice to re-cone the other speaker but I guess I need to take some measurements.
Bouth ready for the big dinner, B back later.

I've had good luck getting free speakers from relatives who are into audio and upgrade and give me their unwanted speakers in cabinets. I've also gotten some great speakers at garage sales. Big boomer 3 way jobs in 3 foot tall cabinets. A solid signal from K4KYV or W9AD fills the house.

http://www.tubesandmore.com/They carry the jensen line. I have had good luck with the MOD speakers. I use them to replace old Hallicrafters speakers that are ripped or blown out. If there is a certain type you need, Let me know. My brother buys, repairs and sells old audio gear. Most of the time when he gets old speakers he pulls the Drivers out and sells them off on ebay so he does not have to ship the huge cabinets. He may have some 15s lying around. C
