Wow, quite the system and a major effort in time, equipment and money. Yes, the early 60's when crewcuts ruled the engr whirl.

I wonder if that facility, ~50 years later, is now a ghost town - obsolete, unfunded and abandoned?  A thumbs down from govt funding is all it takes.

It's kinda sad when you see these FB multi-million dollar projects just fade away as new technology comes about. They certainly were leading edge at the time.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Yep, still going on down there.Cheesy

Most of what we know about the ionosphere came from that project.

Run by Cornell U nowadays.

Lots of dope on it if you look around.

It's funny how that thing has been there for over 4 decades but when the HAARP system was built more recently, lots of people went nuts about how it would burn holes in the ionosphere.   Grin

Can you say phased dipoles?

Much of what we've learned about the ionosphere more recently comes from satellites and probes.

Gotta love the scope cameras with the Polaroid film. I wish I had a dollar for every time I took a shot with that stuff! Long gone now. All computer generated now with color and all!

Yeah, Steve (HUZ).  Check out those old Tek scopes.  Man - does that bring back memories - some I'd just as soon leave there in the past.  Polaroid is still making some instant film cameras -- imagine that.

I still have an old Spectra in like new condition

We all had a good laugh at work last week when I took a digital photo of an HP8566 plot for a customer. Seems our plotter is out of ink. They thought there was an EMI problem with a system I worked on in 1977. I was worried because I measured emissions with an NF 105 and may have missed something.
