Anyone else get the feeling that between episodes the youngsters are writing checks to "cash" and draining 'ole Freds bank account?    LOL

My first thought on viewing the video was, "Who the hell is he to be calling US dorks?"

Maybe one of y'all with a superstation that's got a couple old BC transmitters (or some hot Class E stuff) and more gear than VOA should make a response video and let the world know that we are actually the "creme de la creme" of avocations. Grin Grin Grin

Yes,
Very creepy link indeed.
To have your face and "stuff" be paraded around ebay/internet even with your face bruised, beaten and later smeared with a paste, is IMHO, at the very least,
tacky, disrespectful, possibly abusive, and shreds much of the dignity of the older gentlemen "Fred".  I'd rather have my stuff go to a landfill than be exploited like this some day by Grandkids.
My 2 sense.

Amen Jim, there is something VERY wrong about that video. Folks of that age deserve our respect, and it is morally wrong to parade them about like fools. It seemed to me that the video guy, I won't use the word gentleman here, was speaking to and interacting with Fred as though he was a child, not an elder. It may have been that he did know any better, at least I do hope so, he seems rather tasteless and clueless.

In many ways the video is a sharp reminder that we should reach out to the elders of our hobby, assisting them in what ways we might. Much better a brother ham helps, seems to me that honors and respects those who have gone before us.

May God truly protect us all from such a fate as Fred.

The production is sort of a bizzarre infomercial except for the part about the dead mouse being the cat's work. One thing to consider is that some people are really strange, including old people, and the whole thing could be as Fred wants it. There are 8 videos I found so far.

Creepy indeed!

Considering that some of the stuff is Los Alamos Labs surplus, this is probably Fred...

If someone is in the area it probably wouldn't hurt to check up on him.

That is the right name as it appears on another video. Checking wouldn't do any harm due to the very weird situation.
