I'm retiring in two days, and one of my winter projects is restoring my 5100 and getting an AM station on the air  Grin  I was wondering how the tuning rate was on the higher bands, say 20 meters and above? That VFO scale gets awfully short as the bands go up.

The VFO operates near the 160 meter band and is multiplied by all the 6AQ5s on that muliplier section and each tube is switched in by the bandswitch.  The tuning rate of the VFO is pretty slow so the rate on the upper bands is not bad at all.  If you do SSB with it up there and try to spot another signal it is a bit difficult but on AM is works fine and is easy to spot.
