Someone mentioned this old movie tonight and said there are lots of hallicrafters radios in the movie. Its supposed to be on Turner movie classics but not on my TV.. Its not listed as being available. Probably is on the east and not the west.

Anyone seen it? Is it worth the $15 to by the DVD?

It's about a 5 minute download here (226 meg)...

I've got it downloading now.

Richard Basehart and Jack Webb, apparently it morphed into Dragnet on the radio the next year.

I heard the BFO scenes are pretty explicit!    And there is some choking too.

It's got some boat anchor gear because the bad guy (a young Richard Baseheart) is a radio repairman, when he's not being a cop killer. Jack Webb is a young CSI type.

Worth the free download but I wouldn't spend the $15 to buy it.

It was on the TCM channel early this morning. I missed the first 20 minutes, but in the reminder, there were just some glimpses of  some Hallicrafters gear. You can see a lot more hallicrafters by just Googling "hallicrafters". I remember seeing the movie in the past, and it sucked then, as it did when I saw most of it this morning. If you really want hallicrafters (BC-610) on the big screen, the Voice of Victory movie http://www.archive.org/details/VoiceofV1944 is probably more entertaining.

CW is just a narrower version of AM

Best radio movie I know is ISLAND IN THE SKY with John Wayne and Slim Pickins.

It features Dynamotor issues, BC348's, RDF, Gibson Girls etc...

I see that Island in the Sky lists Andy Devine in the cast as pilot Willie Moon.  He was a ham.  Andy was obese and had a rough voice that cracked like a pubescent JN, played in westerns.

I had a chance to watch he walked by night today.. Good movie!  Hooked the laptop to the big Flat screen in the living room.  I saw alot of gear.. I recognized little. I did see that the crook had an S38 just like mine in his Cottage.
