He is a little confused in his history.

This is at best an early post-WW2 rig.  Just because it is built on a breadboard and uses plug-in coils doesn't make it a mid 30's, HPM era rig.  The 807 didn't appear until the very late 30's, and those FT-243 rectangular shaped crystal holders  weren't available amateurs until after the war, or possibly at the earliest, immediately before Pearl Harbor.
