We talked about this thing in May 2008, http://amfone.net/Amforum/index.php?topic=16120.0 and then production stopped in July 2008, http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?170053-Hilberling-PT-8000-Production-Stopped
I believe they were at Dayton this year. Took some pictures of the display units at Dayton in 2008. Front panel colors didn't excite me.

for what it costs, around $13K I think, it had better blow some doors, but it is another box that makes me ask what do you do if it breaks?   I don't see myself ever fixing something like that, (ditto for flex radio, or anything else that is smt and chips).

Here's some info on the 2007 version of the PT-8000, http://ftp.qrz.ru/pub/hamradio/schemes/hilberling/btc_pt-8000.pdf . Don't know what differences there are in the latest version. I couldn't find any product specs, pricing, availability, etc.  on this transceiver anywhere on their web site.

Again, like a new Bentley or Maybach or Malibu beachfront home, it all boils down to smugness.

And, if you could afford one, fixing it would not be an issue.

Just a funny add to the topic, it ought to be in the "rare receivers" thread as well.

CW is just a narrower version of AM

It is definitely related to its great grandfather, the Wireless set 19.
