for $50 I got a hole trailer of stuff at the belton hamfest a while back.  One interesting box of tubes I have is half a shoebox full of jan-cim-15e tubes.  whith then was a box that said us army and us navy with the tube name.  I saw with a little research that they used to be used for bomber radar.  I can't seem to find any specs on it though. Any other info?

Actually, I have a few of them.  Use the specs for the 20-T (T-20, I forget which).  It's a triode, with a 20 watt plate dissapation.

The filament pins are on the bottom and must plug into a "floating"
socket (or fixture, as Eimac calls it).  Also, the plate lead is out the side, and the grid pin is out the top.

I'm hoping (someday) to use a pair in push-pull for a buffer stage.

From the '47 RADIO Handbook:

Fil=5V@4A.
Mu=25
Pd=25W
Po=15W
Ep=not listed
Ip=not listed
F=400mHz
Cgf=1.4uF
Cpf=0.3uF

I'd try 1500-2000 Volts @ 35mA to start.  Watch the plate and see.  The HK24G was very similar, and had but 5W more dissipation, maybe derate & use as a model.

They also made a diode like it, the 15R.
It could carry 150mA peak @20kV.

I have a pair of these, quite small, about 1 3/4 in dia. by 2 in. overall length. 
I'll have to research some more but seems they were used in a USAF VHF rig (good to 50,000 ft., etc.)
They sure are neato looking, right up Derb's alley of esoteric tubes.

15E and 15R were used in the airborne search radar as well as for ranging radar on torpedo bombers. The Tulagi was one WWII carrier that had planes that used these tubes. The 15E was in pulsed oscillator duty and 15R was part of the pulse network. I believe the output was 5KW peak.

Max. ratings are:

Thoriated Tungsten filament - pulse current limitation 80mA per watt of filament power, double if filament voltage is raised by 10%.

thanks for the info.  I've got some other projects I plan to do first but I sure can't wait to use these neat little tubes.  I wonder why the guy had so many.  They atleast look in new condition so I'm hopin there all good.
