Warren is now K2ORS. Last active here on the board: Last Active: July 07, 2006, 10:51:35 AM
I saw Warren at the Sussex County hamfest in NJ in July 2009. Warren is playing down around 500 kHz.

Greg, K3EWZ, registered here on the board July 26, 2008, 06:33:00 AM. He has never posted.

Lately Warren has been heard operating 75 AM (and I assume some SSB) QRP during the day with his backpack FT-17(?)  portable.  Fairly readable most of the time with a watt or so.

I haven't talked with Greg in a while. We still laugh about the time he came to the Breezeshooters Hamfest. It had rained all day and unfortunately, he drove right into where they have the tractor pulls. He buried his truck upto the axles. Later him and I staggered out of Ashtubula Bill's motorhome. Both of us had a load on and I think that Bill took perverse pleasure in seeing us so inebriated. He brings that up for a laugh every time we talk.  Grin

Yep, Warren is just as active and enthusiatic about radio as always. I usually see him at the festers.

He's REALLY fired up about the 500kc and down stuff. He's constantly building up new rigs and ants down there, some quite the strappers.  He's a channelmaster on VLF.... Grin

If we get some new activity going on 75M, he'll be back on with a big sig again, I'll bet.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Saw EWZ at Timonium 2008 in the tail gating section....I believe he listens more than transmits.

Drank a lot of suds with the lad on Dobbins (1993)...that was fun.

I just got a reply to my email to Greg, K3EWZ.  To summarze he is doing fine and expects to be back on the air.  Here is a portion of the email he sent me:

"Please inform me of any local get-togethers, it would be nice to see everyone. Hope to get a boatanchor station on the air again. Give the Derb my regards and stop in if you get down this way.  Greg K3EWZ"

It was sure good to hear that he is doing fine.

Coincidence: I just finished reading Joe's post and started getting out the afternoon mailings and the first order I processed was going to Greg. Didn't connect the name when the order was submitted, but the mailing label I generate, said, "Malvern, PA", caught my eye.  ....Spooky

Here's a shot of Warren at the AM Dinner back in October. He used to listen in to the gang with a portable Grundig receiver while taking his evening stroll, but it sounds like he's got a portable rig to use while out in the woods now. Seem to recall him mentioning that at the dinner. Worked him on 40 a few months back.
