Derb,

A transverter is a great way to go.   Check out the ones made by Downeast Microwave in NJ. Put a wanted ad out for a 50-28. I have two 6M units and love 'em.  Pretty cheap for the kit version.

Keep yer eyes peeled for a Clegg Zeus/Interceptor pair.  I got a pair for a total of $50 at Manasses and Hwd Cty hamfests.  The Zeus will do about 150 watts, plate mudulated (4X150 mudlated by a pair of 811s)

Jack,

Here is a design for a very inexpensive homebrew 2 element  10M Yagi. You can buy the aluminum directly from Texas Towers.

I once ran three of these stacked. They are broadly tuned and will easily cover from 28 - 29.250 for CW, AM or SSB operation.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Would really love to get my Clegg Zeus/InterceptorB combo going on 2m. Nobody around on Long Island doing any AM ops on 2m.

Have done a bit of 6m with the pair though.

I love the Zeus. Pair of 811's PP modulating the plate of a 4X150. Yummy.
