Another nice group on 7160 tonight. Called K3SQP as he was finishing up with a Two-land station at around 9:50 PM ET. The group grew from there to ultimately span the continent.  I signed at about 10:45 PM ET.

W8VYZ - Bill         Ashatbula, OH            59+20
W9AD - Dave       Barrington Hills, IL      59+40
KC3OL - Ted         NR Kansas City, MO    59+15
W9JUG - Jim        Chilton, IL                  59+20
KF7EH - Steve     NR Spokane, WA         59+10
W7ALW - Barrie   Missoula, MT                59             Only 50 watts!

Last heard (around 11 PM ET) K4KYV and KX5JT were still on freq.

I'd love to get on there with you guys but being on a 50x100 foot lot in town I have a feeling running a 200 w. cxr in the evenings would be a recipe for a parade of neighbors telling me they heard me on their PC speakers, baby monitor, land line.....you name it.  Are you all out in the country or am I too cautious?  I did work Ted KC3OL earlier this morning on 7160 and Paul N8ITF; nice signals & great qsos.

Not currently on a lot that small but was on a 60 x 120 foot lot in years past. Yes, there were some RFI "issues" but I was on the air all the time with 300 watts carrier. You won't know for sure until you try. Hope to hear you soon.

Here's Dave - W9AD, the channel master tonight. You can hear KF7EH break in at the end.

Thanks Steve; well that's true about trying.  Part of it is a few years ago I worked the CX one Saturday night in January and woke up the next day to find my horiz. loop feedline trashed so someone chose to express their dissatisfaction with AM in way that wasn't very cooperative.   Yes, I have never run across Dave when he wasn't the big signal on the band.  He's about oh, 20 miles northeast of me and always booms in here.   Was reading the mail about an hour ago hearing Don kyv and kx5jt but with QSB--the band was going long.   maybe i'll give it a shot one of these weeknights.

You might get into musical greeting cards, too.

Yah it was a great night for 40 meter activity. I enjoyed listening to K4KYV and KX5JT chat away amiably without any interference for about an hour. I did hear a "9" calling CQ on frequency for a bit at one point and assume that he was not hearing either Don or John at the time. Very nice conditions all around!

And later we continued up on 7180, with WA5TEV and W8PU, all on AM.

I have a friend W6ONV in Oakley, CA that hangs out in the #amateur_radio chat room on IRC EFnet.  He said Don K4KYV was just above the noise and that he actually could barely pick out my callsign after he turned it over to me.  Maybe later on like around 6:00 UTC (after midnight on this side of the continent) the west coast may play better to us on the east and south.

I hear and have worked numerous big sigs out of CA on slopbucket. I would assume if Washington state is coming in, CA would be too.

Hope to hear you soon.

Are you guys hearing anyone from out here in 6 land in California? My wife’s dad is coming back in two weeks and as soon as well get things cleaned up I'm going to get the tower and wires back up. Might be ready in June or early July, but I’m thinking its probably too late.
