Spent a bit of time on 7156 last night, enjoyed a few contacts including one with KA1TP aboard his tugboat in Fall River MA before calling it a night.

This morning I received the following from Henk in the Netherlands:

Todd,

Were you around 04.00 GMT on 3885?
I think you were....

I was listening and heard you loud & clear in AM.
First I listen to 7160, but no station on air.
On 7155 a Chinese sounding station...

So I tuned in on 3885 and heard you.
You were talking with others....
But only very weak I could hear a speaking man....

Greetings,

Henk

Aside from the interesting math required for such a harmonic to be possible, I was only running the 32V-2 at 100 watts out, at best. And only a marginal 40m dipole is hung at this point.

Any ideas? I wrote back to explain to Henk where I was operating and when, so he'll probably be interested to hear as well.

Heh, yeah - some shift!

Had an email waiting from Henk this morning:

I am sure I heard a man talking about Todd!!!
He was on exact 3885 and talking with others, but they were weak!

Maybe there are more with that name?Huh

Last days I have not heard AM around 7160.
When I am in my studio I listen...

Greetings,

Henk
Dokkum

My guess is that he might've heard Richaroni, 'QIX, or someone else I'd just worked on 40 mention it. Not aware of anyone else with the same name active in the AM community.

The immediate concern was a problem with the rig, since this was an issue back in 94-95 causing me to leave the air. The 32V had some 'issues' which caused it to put out some nasty spurs above and below the main signal. After getting a call from a MARS ops in White Plains NY advising me that I was interfering with their ney above 4 mcs, I took it off the air. But this only happened on the same band. Gave up on it until 2007 when Joe 'PJP had a look at it and found several problems, including misaligned linkage for the loading which had gotten loose and slipped a bit.

Breathing a sigh of relief now.  Tongue
