Warrington PA (just north of Philadelphia) AM’ers Gathering
Saturday April 11, 2009  11:30 AM

I am planning to have another AM gathering soon.  This is not too much notice, but the plan is to meet at the new and good Easton Buffet Restaurant (Chinese) in Warrington, PA. The shopping center is where the Packrats Hamfest used to be when the land was the Bucks County Drive-in.

The restaurant is in the Creekview Shopping Center (has a Target and Lowe’s); it was previously the Old Country Buffet.  This is the southeast corner of Route 611/Easton Road and Street Road (Route 132).  This is also about 3 ˝ miles north of the Willow Grove interchange of the PA Turnpike Exit 343, which puts you onto 611; proceed north.

Shopping center location:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps?zipcode=18976-2421

Easton Buffet restaurant telephone 215-918-2298
Saturday lunch $9.99.

Todd,

I don't think I will be a Timonium.

The only get-togethers I have organized so far are at  ~ 1 hour drive radius points from my QTH.

I just got back on-line after a FiOS failure for 2 days.

Mike W2GEZ is on the road and will not be attending.  Mike was the one who wanted 6 meters mobile.

 * Is there anyone else who wants to run 6 meters mobile on the way in to the lunch?

Otherwise I will NOT set up my 6 meter station in the restaurant parking lot when I get there.  I will bring all the schtuff along however.

Hi Tom,
I currently do not have 6 meter mobile cability.  Only 2 meters, so I can listen on 146.52 simplex if anyone will be on.

Tom,
Sorry Mike, W2GEZed can't make it. I was going to bring my Lafayette HA-650 rockbound TX 6M AM portable along for a little fun. While not exactly a HT by modern standards, it was portable in 1966!

We had a nice turn-out at the Easton Buffet today.  See photo below.

In the photo are (from left to right) Stephanie WX3K, Paul W3VVS (my OM), John WB2YGF, Joe W3GMS, Bob WA2BSP, and Doug WA3DSP.

Doug showed us his refurbished and modified Multi-Elmac AF-67 mobile transmitter.

Not pictured - Martha N3QBE (xyl W3GMS) and Tom WA3KLR (photographer).

Thanks to everyone for attending.

Thanks for putting this together Tom.  Turns out Barb didn't have to babysit after all. She was REALLY pissed when she found out she could have gone.

I thoroughly enjoy the conversation and fellowship at these things.  It makes me realize just how much I don't fit in with the "regular" ham club scene.

Smiley Great gathering with good food and conversation. It was nice to associate faces with on air voices. This is what I enjoy the most about the hobby. It is also so much fun to see folks bring gear with them to an event for show and tell. Loved the AF67  Wink Looking forward to the next event.

Here are the pictures I took.......

Since this is the first one I was able to attend, I am not sure if it's typical for folks to bring some of their restored gear.  I certainly did enjoy seeing Doug's worked over AF-67 xmtr.  Maybe this will start a new tradition of people bringing gear with them for a "show and tell" session!  Thanks Stephanie for posting the pictures you took!
