If you do miss it, don't feel bad. You can get on AM any day, any time.

Just call in with " CQ contest.. hello contest ... CQ contest, CQ contest "

It also helps to call over an existing QSO...........

The QRN pretty well wiped it out here last night and the skip went long.  There was also some kind of QRMtest on CW.  I didn't hear much AM activity; just sounded like any other night.

I never call CQ for any of these events.  Just fire up on AM at the appropriate time on the appropriate frequencies.  AM presence on the band is the best strategy.

Heard Dave, KA2J ("Hi Guys") operating W2AN yesterday on 3.885, coming in nice down here. Also heard W1HRX and many callsigns with a number of interesting stations not usually heard on the band. Reminded me a lot of the Collins AM net. Too bad it takes a contest or net to get them on the air.
