I'm probably missing something here but could you use one of the 4XX KC BC-604 Xtals for mixing down the 455kcIF into a sound card?
Also wondering about using the 50KC IF from a Halli receiver, SX101? directly?

This sounds too simple to work.

Bill,

I don't see why it shouldn't work. The only problem might be the "black death" which plagued plated FT241 crystals and acoustically damped them so much that many now won't oscillate, even in pretty vigorous oscillators.

Believe most of the Softrock designs use a Johnson counter to provide the necessary LO phases - so you need a xtal 4X the injection frequency.

You're absolutely right, John. I was only thinking of converting 455kHz down to 50kHz, and not what the sound card needs in the way of I and Q channels for SDR.
