A friend has a Non Directional Beacon transmitter that he'd like to sell. It transmits on 390 KC and uses two 807s for the final and is modulated by two more 807s. It's made to run 24/7 for years. Apparently very heavy and located near Kansas City. I don't know any more details or the price but I'll find out.

Any ideas?

Move it up to the 500 Kcs band.

The transmitter Steve is referring to now has 3 807s modulated by 811s.  The beacon's mod and plate transformers were used, a pi output and speech amp were installed and it ran around 200 watts phone on 75 meters.
We affectionately called it 'The Beacon' naturally.
It is now off the air and waiting for reincarnation.

I'd say the first idea would be to populate my shack with it's first glowing rig...

Second idea would be as a (dual purpose) space heater, that also could work with my amateur radio hobby.

Thirdly,  I'd say it would make a great (conversation) piece for the wife Smiley
