Did this story make it all the way down there, Dr. Brinkley?

Love handles and spare tires power a car

I wonder how bad it smells behind his car. I can just picture myself sitting on the 405 in Friday afternoon traffic smelling human exhaust.
Now if someone could come up with a direct interface belt you could wear as you drive and lose weight........

Commercial biodiesel, whether veggie or animal, smells about the same as regular diesel. Too much non-petroleum product can cause powerpack issues.

It's things more along the lines of waste vegetable oil, once processed, that lend the distinctive "french fries" or "Chinese Buffet" odor to the exhaust.

Even a 20% bio-mix most often has less energy content. So, one pays more for biodiesel at the pump for the privelege of receiving less energy. In Illinois I was forced to use it and it cost more. The mileage on the M35 truck dropped substantially on my last road trip when running biodregs. Adding some nondetergent 30WT crankcase oil to the fuel tank got the mileage back up a bit. That was probably illegal in IL. The deviations below are somewhat subdued since the tank was a 50GAL. I prefer not to get low.

Mileage:
odometer fuel MPG comment/fuel type
34654 0.0 full
34845 25.5 7.5
34916 11.2 6.4 (mountains)
35031 14.0 8.2
35160 18.2 7.1 filled at phillipsburg MO
35318 19.9 7.9
35503 23.3 8.0 put in cheezy and expensive biodiesel 20
35704 29.6 6.8 note crap mileage from biodiesel 20. BP in ILL
35928 27.1 8.3 B11 biodiesel, plus 1 qt. Of non detergent 30-wt.
36081 18.4 8.3
36238 21.7 7.2
36412 23.1 7.5 Hope, AR
36538 14.8 8.5 Sulphur Springs, TX
