Tuned around on the low end of 80 meters this morning and heard what sounded like two different AM QSOs. Both were around 0800Z. One was at 3550. I could not copy much but could hear the carrier and some audio. The second was on 3625. I heard a GW3 station to a G4 (I think). The GW3 station was nearly Q5.

Can anyone ID these stations or groups?

The one on 3550 is a French speaking AM group.  They have been there for years.  I have heard them here as loud as S9+10, but usually they are so far into the background noise that only a few words are distinguishable.

Interestingly, the European band plan doesn't recommend phone operation down that low.

They have been harder to read since the US phone band expansion.  Before, CW in that part of the band was so sparse that they usually came in here interference-free.  Now, you can expect to hear at least one CW signal within their passband.
